i hear they're making a Ghost in a Shell 2 movie.

Heh, that rumor has been running around for ages.

There is, however a GitS series, called Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, which is supposed to be showing on Cartoon Network sometime this year.

it's not a rumor. the film is done, and it's supposed to release in the states theatrically in the next few weeks.

I think i am liking the series better than the movies. The series gives you all the philosphical elements, but it throws each one at you with each show. Each case gives you another idea and view of "ghosts" of machines, loss of privacy, etc.

I love it better than the movie. The movie takes one idea and stretches it noticeably (but not painfully) over a larger area.
