I got a new (old) car! (pic intensive)

Woo hoo! :woot

It's pretty frickin sweet. I got myself a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado. It's beautiful, and she was really a steal.

She's a bit of a land yacht.

But she's got it where it counts... she'll make .5 past lightspeed. 425 cubic inches, 385 horses, and oh so pretty.

NICE!! Just need to paint it something ridiculous, and you'll be all set.

According to wikipedia.org's entry on the Oldsmobile Tornado...

History has confirmed that the Toronado design was indeed heavily over-built; the GMC motorhome of the 1970s, which used a basically unchanged Toronado-derived drivetrain, stands as a testament to that fact.

And I do love me some overbuilt american engineering. I've had to replace a couple things, but for such an old car they've been remarkably easy and affordable to find so far. And she runs smoother and cleaner than ever now. She still ran pretty freakin awesome for having sat in a garage the last ten years, and who knows how many similar hiatuses before then.

Nice. I bought a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutless Colait from my former boss for $100, needed some work but it was good...then got laid off right after I paid for the tag and title and insurance...had to sell the car a week later cause I had no money to put into it... :(

Maybe you sold it for a profit, though? :)
