He's hearing the dog portion of the background music, I'm guessing. (Weird frickin music at that)

That comment has actually got me wondering what the songs are. The first one is from The Nutcracker - Dance of the Mirlitons. The second song I recognize from A Mad Russian's Christmas (the particular bit starts at 1:13) and from Christmas Lights Gone Wild. Don't know what the original is, though.
edit: the last song is Russian Dance, from The Nutcracker.
