The beam was 2,000 gray when it entered is head. Do a Google search for "2000 gray to rem" and you'll see that that's the same as 200,000 rem. Given that anything above 1,000 rem means inevitable death, 200,000 is quite a lot.

Interesting that he survived. It's almost like a cartoon.
EDIT: Surprisingly, that's the only picture of his face I can find online.

Ouch... I wonder if this is a one time miracle or if anyone could survive it? Of course, there's no way to test it...
