Off I go, into the Wild Blue Yonder....

Postby Dracofrost » Sun Jul 13, 2008 6:28 am

Well, this is it folks. Tomorrow, Monday at noon, I get dropped off at my recruiting station. From there it's a lot of good old hurry up and wait, and off to Air Force Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Wish me luck everyone. I'll miss y'all :( Though some I'll be seeing sooner than others. Everyone who can make it to my graduation is invited. I'll try to get ChatOmbre to post details of when and where to both here and facebook. Or maybe Paleofrost. Either way, see y'all. Bye. :hi

Good luck! Maybe we'll see on FJ, again, after basic training! :)

Probably not for a while... basic is 6 weeks, and my tech training is going to be at least 20... I won't be completely cut off from the outside world during tech school, but getting internet is expensive, like you gotta pay 20 bucks to get on for a few hours, or something stupid like that.

Eep. That's half a year, minimum. Well, hopefully it'll be an enriching and fulfilling half year :)

Well, I'm sitting in the hotel, waiting, probably the last chance I'll have access to a computer until sometime after basic. Tomorrow morning I get up at 4, 4:30 and then head out to MEPS to swear in again, this time as active duty, and then ship off to Lackland. Ought to be 'fun'... and yeah, it better be an 'enriching' half a year, hahaha. I'll be earning some good college credit hours though, at least, for all of the training.

Hellos, everyone! it's been a while.
Last I saw him, Draco asked me to tell y'all his mailing address for while he's at basic, once I found out what it was. So here ya go...

Given the frequency with which new posts are made on FJ, now, we could mail him new posts and it wouldn't exactly be a burden to him!

Would that include all spam too? :lila

Imagine if that was so and some spammer posted hundreds of spam....and consequently Draco gets burried in letters.... :crazy

That would have been... amusing? I would have beaten others in the "ha, I got more letters than you!" game, but, well, that doesn't matter now. I've finished Basic as an Honor Graduate, so tonight I'll be packing up and shipping out to my Technical Training. So my address is changing again. Oh well, hopefully while there I'll be able to just get on FJ and post some. Well, anyways, yeah, talk to y'all later. Woo! :rotf

What does being an Honor Graduate signify? At UT, for Computer Science majors, there's departmental honors, which denotes a minimum GPA and the undertaking of "undergraduate research" and university honors, which has a higher minimum GPA requirement.

Anyway, good luck with the technical training and congrats! :)

Honor Graduate means that I scored higher than 90 percent on both the Physical and End of Course test, as well as never failing a single inspection or anything in that regard, never getting a derogatory comment, and even meeting all that, only 10% of basic training graduates are allowed to graduate as 'honor' graduates. Oh, and your TI has to recommend you for it.

And thanks. Technical Training is going well so far.
