What sort of updater would you like?

For the ABBS already it checks the version compared to the serer and downloads the client exe by the URL given (set by the server administrator). This makes it much easier for client users but also gives them a slight vulnerability as the owner can specify a URL to a virus exe instead and it will download that. He/she can rename and alter it to make it look like the legitimate client application but does malicious things instead/as well.

Any thoughts or suggestions on this?

I would say that that's too big a liability to really warrant doing it. What happens if an attacker gains control of the admins computer, as an example? Granted, it's not something that's uber likely to happen, but the problems that could arise are, I think, a bit to big to justify doing it...

So I guess the updater can point to the latest client exe on the Cunning Ware website if the server admin has updated.
