web browsers....

Postby Rapscallion » Mon Sep 01, 2008 4:36 am

I've been using Internet Explorer most of my life, but I've been thinking about switching to Firefox just to try something new (just firefox; I don't want to stop using Outlook at all). Anybody have any thoughts?

You could try Google's new open source web-browser I suppose. ;)

Here's someone's petty FF vs. IE comparison, just for laughs - http://www.bbspot.com/News/2005/01/fire ... lorer.html

There's nothing stopping you from trying out FireFox; you can even still switch between the two easily if and when nesissary, which may be good for bug squashing for sites with compatibility issues. Also FF may be good for surfing uncharted territory (new websites to you) where you don't know whether it's a safe site or a malicious one hell bent in injecting its visitors with various malware just for laughs or for profit.

Well, I use Firefox. In-line spell checking is quite nice as is the ability to save / restore sessions. It's also more customizable, by means of extensions or add-ons or whatever:

Of course, IE has the advantage when it comes to using Microsoft Exchange et al.

Oh, and on another note, I tried out Chrome yesterday. I hated it, and uninstalled it after about an hour or so of using it.

It has some great ideas, but it's dearth of options bothers me greatly.

And there's no adblock. :p [/sarcasm]

Hi to all...
I think you should change it because Firefox gives you faster performance and it will not take so much time as internet explorer...
So in my opinion you must do this changes and tell me hows you feel after this changes..
You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can't get them across, your ideas won't get you anywhere.

FireFox (still) kinda sucks for me, even when I had to use it on Linux. I actually tested it on a few slow and CPU-hogging sites or sites that crash your browser and yielded the same results, so IE is not much less stable than FF now. Actually, I think it's just the Java and Flash plug-ins, there's a lot of poor web developers out there making amateur mistakes and not testing things thoroughly since these days it's easy to make a flashy site even if you've had no web designing experience....
