I dunno, but her insider trading, It's a good thing (tm).

Ok, sorry, that was another bad joke.

I guess people just like to know that no one is as perfect as Martha wanted us to believe she was.

Letterman, Leno and SNL have made jokes about her for years ... like the 'Martha's Topless Christmas' skit on SNL from about 4 or 5 years ago.

Why is it any more annoying to hear jokes about her than about Elvis, Britney or any other celebrity that winds up in the news for doing something offbeat or out of character?

Well, what she did, if true, was not only far out of character, but also quite illegal.

Yay for insider trading!

What does that have to do with the fact that people have been making Martha Stewart jokes for years before there was any hint of her being involved with insider trading?!?

i think it is just who she is, she is the only person who would spend a week trying to make a perfect sandwich or maybe her voice, so excited about fabric. Sorry I'm being mean, thats what she likes so i can stop her.

Sorry Murphy .... I forgot you are in Scotland! :lol

Martha Stewart is famous for her television show, books and magazine on home decorating, crafts and cooking on a budget. On her show, for example, she might show how to take a beat up piece of junk furniture and redo it into something really neat; or how to rearrange a small ugly room so it looks bigger and brighter.

She also sells her own line of decent quality yet inexpensive bedding and bath linens as well as some cookware. She is not a chef ... she mainly does cookies, pastries and so on though she does holiday specials on holiday decorating and holiday meal planning and so on.

Her work, though admired by homemakers (some men and mostly women) who enjoy home decorating, craft projects and baking, is not something that normally appeals to most kids, teenagers, men or the masses as a whole.

Therefore, they make fun of her.

In the past year or so sometime, she became involved in a stock market scandal in which she was accused of illegal insider trading when the company she owned stock in went bankrupt right after she sold her shares.

There are a couple of posts about it on this board.

http://www.frostjedi.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2008

While it has not yet been proven that Martha has done anything illegal, the scandal has definitely taken a toll on her company, which reported an 82% loss in the last quarter. :\

Anyways ... I hope that helps some.
