The long road to Khadrim... The Third Front

Postby Tar-Herunole » Fri Apr 02, 2004 6:01 pm

The night felt like an eternity for the allied forces of Khadrim. The dark army was never-ending, and they could discover their plan any minute. Nonetheless, the sun finally showed his golden nose in the valley. Erelen looked at the road, swarmed by dark creatures that were not welcoming the light of the day. Vantras had definitely fulfilled his promess, and many had perished in the storm of the KuanPing. Around 1.600.000 were left. Three fourths of the army including the vanguard and most of the main body had already crossed the narrow point. 400.000 were still before it, including the Rearguard, composed by around 300.000 and a wide array of food and ammunition carriages, war machines, etc...
Erelen and Karras stared at each other and nodded with solemnity in their faces.

The troops were not in the best of its humor. True, they had finally left behind the storms of the Kuanping. But they were tired and they hated the sun. It hurt its eyes. If the Dark Lords were not rushing them probably they could have camped for the day.

At the rear of the last company of heavy infantry a trolls was getting annoyed by some orcs trying to hide from the sun in his shadow.

“You dwarf! Stop following me or I will crush you and you will not have to suffer the sun anymore!”

The troll did not have a chance to fulfill his thread. Suddenly, a thunder filled the valley and a rain of heavy rocks started falling on and around the trolll. The whole mountain seemed to be falling over the dark army. A few more thunders and more rocks.

Soon a thick and tall wall of piled rocks had obstructed the road burying under its enormous stones around 200.000 soldiers of the main body of the army. The rearguard, with its provisions and machines, had been completely isolated from the rest of the army. The 300.000 people of the rearguard stood astonished and scared looking to the heavens… And indeed their end was near to come… but not from the heavens.

The thing that had been Trevet let out a terrible scream of frustration as he saw the ruse that had been put upon his scrying spell. After teh scream had ended all was quite as if nothing else dared make a sound and possibly bring down the wrath of the undead thing upon it. Trevet looked at the griond before him, he could practically see the detection spell, but he now realized that they must have been aware of him to have blaocked his scrying attempts.
Trevet walked forward intot he area of the detection spell, and he kept going marching on to a new source of death, this time he could even tell what had been killed... a troll... The army had arrived.

At the other side of the newly created rock wall, the main body, more than one million soldiers was equally scared and shocked. The High Commander, far away in the sea of orcs from the place were the rocks were falling was equally bewildered:

“What a hell is going on?”
“The mountain is falling on us, my Lord”
“Don’t be stupid”
“Watch it by yourself milord”, said the aide, handing the telescope to the Commander.
“Damned Heaven! What’s going on? We were sent to fight against the elves not against nature! First the storm and now this! What is next? A flood?”
“What should we do my Lord?”
“Send Grang to evaluate the damage and order the rearguard to wait until we are reorganized”

As they were talking a heavy rock landed fifty meters from the High Commander. Much further that where it could have naturally landed.

“What a Hell! Is this also nature? How do you explain that?”
“Maybe the stone giants of the mountains are angry and are throwing us rocks?
“Rubbish! You are such an incompetent rat! If we had not lost so many people already I would made sure you joined our rearguard, but not as a driver. You would be our own FOODDDD!!!!”

A man mounted in a warg rushed in and jumped by the side of the commander.

“My Lord, we have lost many men under the rocks, and the rearguard has been cut access. The troops are also scared, as it seems the mountains are still unstable. Rocks keep falling everywhere!”

“Keep on pounding rocks and stones on them and concentrate in the main body. CC will take care of the rearguard. Also remember to use only rocks and stones until I order otherwise. The longer they are confused about the nature of the attack the slowlier they will be to react” said Erelen up in th mountain to the Captain of the artillery

The High Commander weighted his options “Ok. We need our rearguard with the provisions and the siege machines. Without them the siege to Khadrim will take forever. We have some explosives in the cars back there. They should be able to use it to break a breach in the rock wall when these rocks stop from falling. Whatever its happening it cannot last forever. Send an expedition with our magicians to help them back there and to tell them to start working with the explosives. They should be able to climb that hill and cross through the forest to the other side”

The bad news for the Dark Commander were not to end. The rocks kept on falling everywhere and parts of its army seemed to be running away disbanded. Then suddenly, a series of violent explosions came from the side of the forested hill.
“My Lord we have lost many of our magicians! The hill is surrounded by invisible traps that explode at the contact!”
The High Commander was in rage. With a quick movement he took his sword and pushed through to his surprised aide. He raised the blade with the agonizing orc hanging on it and said:“What? And you still claim this is the act of nature? Be grateful I have given you such a sudden death!”

Up in the mountain, Erelen noticed the fiction was not sustainable any more. “Shoot everything now” A plurality of projectiles including gigantic spears aimed at trolls and demons, leather containers full of burning oil, and many different magic projectiles and spell started to fell like judgment day over the panicked dark army. The orcs were falling by the thousands, and those trying to escape to the forest found only the mine-like explosives that had been hidden there. Those who tried to fight back. Found the origin of the projectiles was above, far beyond the reach of any of their weapons, and all catapults and siege crossbows lied behind with the rearguard. The main body started to disband and run away from the mountains, ahead through the road to Khadrim.

OOC: All of this happens at the same time that CC charges against the rearguard. I will let him lead the action.

Trevet was nearly there. He could feelt he aura of death everywhere, and he loved it. It would not be long before he reached it, he had been drawn to it, it had summoned him forth faster than he could of brought himself there.
Meanwhile Trevet was concentrating on breaking the vile spell that kept hi from casting int his region. He was drawing upon dark energies that had come to him when he reached his new state, he could resist the amgic, but it was hard he would have to have it dispelled... But then again he didnt really need magic now.

OOC: I thought you said something about having an undead watching me or something? If you are going to have it stop me now would be a good time.

OCC~ This is getting too easy for us, so i devised a rather unique plan. Acutally its quite simply.

The orc scouts came to the high commander, "Captain, All of Khadrim and Endors armies are around dus, Shall are plan go into effect.?" The scout asked. "Yes, send the crow, to our other forces, we will pincer them," The commander said.

OCC~Tar, before you post on, we need to talk on Aim.

cc let his angelic light shine like it never shown before. it almost blinded the creatures of darkness, giving the elves a great opertunity.cc went through waves n waves of the evil forces hacking n slashing sending magic bolts left n right with every swing of his sword.he ran towards some trolls jumping in the air, he brought his sword down thru one n swiftly turned around n sent a magic bolt at the other.his bright angelic light atracted most of the demons in the area......

The light infantry of Khadrim followed the lead of CC. THey chrged from the hill on the forest, swift and mighty, leaving trails of dead orcs in their way, but its objectives were the trolls and other bigger beasts. They were fast like lightningh and the surprised trolls, that seconds before had been pulling heavy machines, stod no choice and many times died with their weapons unfolded.

After them Reven and tits orcs took care of the remaining orcs and men. In their charge and their battle chants was the happiness of the rebellion after centuries of opression and of disrespect from the Dark Lords and from the Orcs of Ossilgath that had regarded their cousins from the Wilderland as second class citizens. Now they will show them better.

In a few minutes the rearguard has disbanded, but they had no place to run, and CC, the Orcs and the Elves were in a high moment. Never before so few men had killed so many in such a little time and with so little losses. Th sun was shining for Khadrim... But that was only the first phase of the plan... and unforecasted events awaited...

Soon there was no dark soldier to tell about the battle in the rearguard. The light of CC, an extermination angel felt the ir, and the Orcs and the Wilderlands and the elven Infantry hailed exultant. But they knew the battle was not over, so quickly they went back and hide again in the forest, bringing with them those artifacts that could deem useful later.

Meanwhile, in the other side of the wall of fallen rocks, there was continuous havoc in the rows of the Dark Army. The rain of projectiles seemed to have no end, and they felt with great damage given the privileged position of the machines. The High Commander tried to reaggrupate his army in order to wait for the reinforcements. But all was in vain as the orcs were unwilling to form under the heavy rain of spells and projectiles. Soon the damage in the main body was over 300.000 men, and the High Commander order to retire and form beyond the reach of the projectiles. Around 800.000 fleeing men were left from the two million that departed from Ossilgath. But the High Commander knew he had a hidden card as the reinforcements were in their way. Still, he was worried and frightened because he had already lost two thirds of his initial army, but had not seen yet not even a soldier from Khadrim.

Erelen was worried as well as the scouts had reported suspicious movements in places were he did not expect the dark army to be. He demanded help from the Lord of the Eagles, and sent scouts and spies to reconstruct a precise status of what was the state of the battle. While he finished speaking with the scouts, Karras interrupted him:
“Trevet is here. My undead familiar has escorted him here. He failed us while alive, but he paid for it. Let’s give his spirit another opportunity”
