Register IP does not Work

Postby Burnzy » Thu Aug 11, 2005 12:23 pm

I have version 1.0.14 phpbb and when i did your register ip mod... it didnt work. All it does is have anyone who registers is at all ZEROS.

But what i did figure out is that even if people dont put an ICQ # in there registration... they will be given a # which is not a real #. Who ever reigsters gets it. Its really wierd.

http://www.KnockoutHalo.com - it wont happen now since i took it off. Ill try to redo it but i doubt it will fix the problem.

Chances are good, given your description, that you just didn't install the MOD correctly - that you did an INLINE BEFORE, ADD instead of an INLINE AFTER, ADD, or something.

I'd recommend you go back and reexamine your code.

i did it just like it said. I did it even 3 times. I have no idea why its doing this. I uninstalled the proxy registration then and as well then did it. It still isnt working.

All that changes is that when new people register it will make there ICQ value a "4522cc4f" (something like this). I have no idea what is wrong with this code.

So you have both the Log IP Address on Registration MOD and the Block Open Proxy Registrants MOD installed? Not that it's really relevant - I'm just currious.

In any case, post a link to usercp_register.php and I'll take a look at it....

Try this:

http://www.frostjedi.com/terra/dev/usercp_register.txt

I haven't tested it on a live phpBB, but it should, never-the-less, work.

Log IP Address on Registration

Postby Bizclown » Thu Jan 05, 2006 3:05 am

I have had the exact same problem...However, I tried to download the fix, but the link is now inactive.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

It's one puppy, they should have thought of. Glad you did!

I take it you didn't install with EasyMOD? I say that because the only time I've seen errors crop up with this MOD is when it was installed incorrectly.

Anyway, before I produce a "premodded" usercp_register.php file for you, you do have the latest version, don't you? 'cause I don't want to install an older version just to uninstall it two seconds later, heh.

Also, is it otherwise unmodded? I ask because if you have 50x MODs installed, I'm not going to install each one, myself, just to produce a usercp_register.php file that, in theory, should be the same as yours.

I guess not, as I am not familiar with easy mod. However, the 4 files required to edit, were untouched, prior to this mod.

running phpBB 2.0.17.

I have uploaded the 4 mod files and original + the mod text file to

http://bizclown.com/Stuff/Jedi/

The files with -0 tagged on at the end are the originals. If you would please take a look I would really appreciated. Advise where my error is so I know. I suspect "usercp_register.php" As it is the only file where I was hesitant and my problem is identical to the user Burnzy.

Once again, thank you for your help.

You'll need to change the extension to something like *.txt for me to view them from the web ;)

You didn't follow the MOD instructions correctly.

Code: Select all
#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]---------------------------------
#
 . "', '" . str_replace("\'", "''", $icq)
#
#-----[ IN-LINE BEFORE, ADD ]---------------------------
#
 . "', '" . $userdata['session_ip']

You did something more like...

Code: Select all
#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]---------------------------------
#
 . str_replace("\'", "''", $icq)
#
#-----[ IN-LINE BEFORE, ADD ]---------------------------
#
 . "', '" . $userdata['session_ip']

The fix is described here:

Fixed

Postby Bizclown » Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:24 am

Thank you, this did the trick, and even as I was fixing it, my eyes kept getting messed up with the commas and quotations... It's one thing to play with code that means something, it's another just to copy unfamiliar code in the right place. Finding the right place was my problem.

Thank you, it works great.

I'll peek around your board for other useful tips and mods.

Have a nice evening!
