I have just today finished a book written by Crito and Plato about Socrates life. As anyone else read anything about him?

while i have read stuff about him, i dunno... it just never really stuck out to me... the only thing which i can really recall him accomplishing, off the top of my head, is the socratic method, which, btw, has some kinda nifty parralels to the scientific method, as described here :)

Well, What most people do not know about Socrates is that he was a great soldier. The only thing wrong with Socrates was his easy entrutment with people. He saw how bad and disrepectful Alchibiades was, but yet he still "taught" goodness. And for those unfamiliar with Socrates, that was his goal in life. To teach those good.

Well imo Socrates was one of the noblest people who ever lived. One of my favorite lines of his is "An unexaimed life is not worth living". He was a good guy who was trying to find some answers. He was considered the wisest person even though he claimed to know nothing. I would have liked to see him meet Jesus Christ.

not som uch that he was noble, but he understood what was expected of him. He knew the difference between good and evil, right and wrong. The funny thing was, he spent his whole life searching for goodness, when he found it before and still pursued it until his death.

I thought that he claimed that he didnt know anything. Thats why he would wander the streets and ask people if they knew anything. When they said yes, he would dicuss it with them and slowly tear it apart and leave them both still shearching.

he claimed he didnt. But if he could contradict people in som any ways so many times, you know he must know something. What Socrates knew about himself, and of other people was his comment in knowledge.

Well I belive that he knew alot about what wasnt true, but not much about what was. I belive that he lived his life by examing his actions to try to see if they would be right or not.

Most of what I know about Socrates is from The Republic, The Rise and Fall of Greece and Looking at Philosophy.
