battlestar galataca news

I don't know about you, but I think this is kinda odd. Apparently, the first half of Battlestar: Galataca, season 2 will be released on DVD before the second half has even aired, as can be read about here:

Although I suppose this isn't really news, persay, fans of the original Battlestar: Galataca (I'm gonna call 'em purists from now on) are becoming quite discontented with the new series. Although I suppose its been building up, gradually, the last episode is what really pushed them over the edge. To quote from an email I recieved:

This is a message from the BABYLON 5 TECH-MANUAL community

Dear Friends,

As some of you know, Colonial Fleets:

-- has now banned all Neo-Galactica content from their site. Colonial
Fleets is probably the oldest and largest BSG resrouces on the web and
our sister site, the Tigerclaw Sci-Fi Pages has already joined with
Colonial Fleets in banning Neo-Galactica from their site.

I would like to do the same here at B5Tech. However, because of our
Constitution, this cannot be done outright. Thus, I would like to put
it to you - the members of B5Tech - to decide if we ban Neo-Galactica
from our b.board. Please go to:

-- to make your opinions on this issue known.

For one, I think it's a little silly that they need a "constitution" to justify their polling their members, but anyway...

Going to their forum reveals this thread which better elaborates upon their discontent: ... =107.topic

Going to that thread reveals this thread, in which the executive producer of Battlestar: Galataca has, personally, addressed this issue: ... post226276

Personally, I've never seen the old series, but I doubt it'd be anywhere near as good as the new series. The fact that the new series bears so many similarities to Lord of the Flies is I think one of its most endearing features, although some, apparently, disagree.
