the name of the sixth Harry Potter book

Postby TerraFrost » Sun Jul 04, 2004 5:49 pm

(Zap2it.com) - Author J.K. Rowling has finally confirmed that the title of the sixth installment of her best-selling children's series will be "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince."

It's been a while since Potterheads have been able to get their boy wizard fix, when the fifth book was released in June 2003. Although fans can currently enjoy the adventures of Harry and his Hogwarts pals on the big screen in director Alfonso Cuaron's "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," rabid curiosity about the remaining two books in the series has not abated, but rather increased.

On the author's web site, http://www.jkrowling.com, the title was revealed behind an animated door that's usually adorned with a "Do Not Disturb" sign. Through a series of steps, designed to reward only the most diligent fans, the door swings open to reveal exclusive information. Potterphiles will already know that the title of the sixth book was the original title of the second book, which was renamed "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."

Although no release date has been announced for "Prince," Rowling wants to stem the tide of one rumor before it gets started.

She states: "the [Half Blood Prince] is neither Harry nor Voldemort. And that's all I'm saying on THAT subject until the book's published."

In the meantime, fans will continue to reread the first five volumes in the seven-book series for clues to Harry's fate and take in another screening of "Azkaban," which has grossed nearly $535 million worldwide.

The http://www.jkrowling.com website is really cool!
I wonder who the Half Blood Prince is if it isn't Harry or Voldemort?

Visitors who recently played a darts game and cracked a code had the privilege of reading the following lines: "He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp."

The site does not reveal who is being described.

The author is similarly reticent on the identity of the titular "prince." In the world of Harry Potter, a half blood is someone who is born from a wizard and a muggle, a non-magical person. Rowling indicates, however, that she is not referring to Harry or his nemesis Voldemort.

hmm... I'd been thinking Hagrid, since they didn't say what the two halves were.
