more news on the original trilogy's comming to dvd..

After years of waiting, hype and hope, the rumors can at last be laid to rest: the holy grail of DVD will finally be released this September. Yes, it is the original Star Wars trilogy: Episodes IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (which many regard as the best in the series) and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Wow, this is awesome news. I thought Lucas had refused to release originals on DVD. Wounder what changed his mind ? (unless it was all planned to help promote episode 3)

You know, thats a good question. He probably thought that with the last two being so crappy, he needed to release these on dvd.

well... these aren't exactly the originals, persay. they're the special editions of the original trilogy. the original editions of the original trilogy are, atleast as far as george lucas is concerned, condemned to vhs.

my favorite of those is the first. I'm not too fond of the gold ones either.

also, from the site that had (or was supposed to have some pics) the pics...
We had to take away the pictures because of a call we had today at noon from Dominique Masseran, chief executive of the marketing department of 20th Century Fox France.
He confirmed that those packagings were only prototypes, which "should not" be the final ones that are going to be released in September. Apparently, this information should never have leaked if NeuronSyndicate had done their job well.
However we have learned that the final packagings are going to be officially revealed in a few weeks, with pictures.
In the meantime, all other pictures have to be removed from the net. We won't have to wait too long anyway!

I beleive the following expresses my opinion on all of this fairly well.

Now all I need are the original copies from somewhere...
