omg. they made a sequel. why didnt they just burn the second tape like they did the first?

but, hey... (chech to alternate ending in deleted scenes section, and it shows the tape in a popular video rental store, on the top picks shelf)

i've never actually seen the deleted scenes, hehe :)

but they didn't burn the tape in the first one, as i recall...

anyways, the ring is based off of the japanese film ringu, which has a sequel, and a prequel. where as ring 1 was based off of ringu 1, ring 2 will not be based off of ring 0 or ring 2.

If you'll remember, the tape popped up out of nowhere in the first place. She's buried in a cemetary. All that would need to happen would be somebody recording something on a camcorder or a nearby neighborhood TV and an all new tape would be made.

Didn't they take the tape to a video rental store and leave it so more people would see it so they could live? I never quite understood the ending ... then again, I saw it on ppv and not any extended version dvd with extra scenes and stuff. :p

the ending i saw had the mom copying the video for the kid, and that was that.

also, in case anyone was wondering... the person who played the mother will be back in the sequel to the ring... i can post my sources, but that'd take time, and blah... so just take my word for it :)

I demand evidence! :p j/k

Hmmm ... now I really don't remember if it just showed the mom copying it and if I am only thinking of the video rental store because Giga told me about it from the dvd or if I really saw it.

Yeah. They crammed all 3 "Ringu" movies into the one "The Ring", hence the reason why the sequel won't be based off the others... they already did it.

If anyone's interested, here goes a good side by side visual comparison of the 3 original "Ringu" movies vs. the Korean remake "The Ring Virus" vs. the US remake "The Ring".

And here goes another page on the background of Ringu in Japan.

I'm afraid to press on all the links... The Ring freaked me out. No I mean it REALLY freaked me out. I couldn't go to my bathroom and my own room for some reason. And when it was turning dark I always ran to the computer and turned the lights on.

I haven't seen the first ring yet... just bits of it in one of the Scary Movie (gah, that was dumb! why, why did I have to say that I didn't care what movie we saw? >.<; ) thingers.
