I don't think FJ has a newsticker? Atleast this incarnation of FJ...

It did. I remember. At one point it said, "If there's nobody around to see me, am I still scrolling?"

Good :p. Most scrolling text belongs in the same place as midi's and the blink tag.

And tables! Stuff that could use them would do better to use div blocks and CSS.

Posts on comp.lang.javascript suggest that <script language="javascript"><!-- // code --></script> is kinda outdated, too, as is stuff like <a href="javascript:function()"> (you should use the onclick event handler and return false).

Actually, I think csszengarden.com is a good model of how things ought to be. It's a shame, though, that the guy behind it doesn't allow javascript enhancements. I think javascript can be used to achieve the same content-style split that is currently done with CSS. Basically, instead of defining event handlers in the HTML, let them be defined through DOM scripting. People can, with that, create and destroy elements, add all the attributes and eventhandlers they want, and the HTML doesn't even have to be touched! (well, above and beyond the inclusion of the javascript in the begining...)

Back when I used javascript, the only thing you'd ever see on my pages would be:

<script type="text/javascript" src="stuff/script.js"></script>

same thing with CSS

<link rel=stylesheet type=text/css href=stuff/style.css>

And tables! Stuff that could use them would do better to use div blocks and CSS.

Agreed.

Are you saying CSS should be used for all division, even when all that is needed is a simple table?
