Final Fantasy 6 (J)

Postby TerraFrost » Wed May 05, 2004 4:18 am

Final Fantasy 6 (J) was released in the US as Final Fantasy 2. Some fans of the game, however, think that FF6's translation wasn't as true as it could have been, or even should have been. To that end, fans of the game have recently released there own translation, even improving the functionality of the game, in some parts...

you can read about it, here:

Actually, FF6(J) = FF3 (US).

Heh, I don't even like Final Fantasy and I knew that :lila

Of course, I remember this one specifically, as it was my first introduction in the FF world. (and I think anyone with 2 brain cells working knows what the end result was)

Here's a harsh review someone had for this project:

Reminds me of this thread, actually, where I quote a post discussing the literalness of their Chrono Trigger retranslation.

Thinking about it, now, I'm reminding of both Tolkien and Newton.

  • From frostjedi.com:
Bit lazy!?!?!?! [J.R.R. Tolkien] was pathedically lazy. If he would have spent as much time on his stories rather than that damn elven language, he would have spit out a few more ages. But oo well. I can complain.

  • From wikipedia.org:
[Isaac Newton] also devoted a great deal of time to alchemy (see above).
