so... i've been playing monopoly on my palm pilot recently, and have come up with a pretty good way to win every time if you're playing one other person!

you don't aim for monopolies. you buy one of everything, and when a chance comes up for you to get something that you already have, you lose it in an action - but you get the other player to pay as much for it as he can. then, that other player will go broke faster, and when he gets to new blocks, he'll have no choice but to auction them, and you can get them really cheap! so in the end, you'll have lots of money, and they'll have hardly anything! by that point, hopefully you'll have a few monopolies, but if you don't, trade the expensive ones for the cheap ones. or perhapes even mortage them, and then trade them. that way, you'll be able to buy houses really cheap, and make your block really expensive, really quickly, while it'll take them a long time to make their block as expensive

what strategies do you use in monopoly?

I have a very simple strategy. If I land on it and I can afford it, I buy it. I also always pick the car, just for good luck.

if playing against one person, though, you'll end up going broke yourself, and the other person will start getting really good deals.

if playing against three other people (maybe even two other), you won't land on enough times to have any monopolies, and in the end, you will have to do some trades, or something.
